Elf on the Shelf, Minecraft Santa

Both boys love Minecraft so they were tickled to see the elves show up with their version of Santa Minecraft skins.  It looks like they found an awesome printable at A Little Moore.  It was fine as is but enlarging it a tad before printing on heavy paper made for a great fit over the elf hat.

Elf on the Shelf, Monster Mash-Up

Occasionally the Elves take it easy.  Here are a few of the lower key days with the elves.  Monster wiggly eyes.  Hiding in the laundry basket, we are guessing for extra protection after a few rough days of being knocked into.  They were especially hard to find this day but that in itself is a lot of fun for the boys.  And finally just hanging around on the light fixture.

Elf on the Shelf, Balloon Poppers

Balloon and Solo cup poppers with pom pom balls.  I know some elves like to use marshmallows for ammo but our elves know I don’t care for the sticky mess that results.  The elves left both large poppers and small.  We found the small ones work perfectly where the larger size was too flimsy.  Our elves found inspiration from one of my Pinterest boards where I had pinned this from Come Together Kids.  Stuffing the mini cup full of pom poms gave us a fully loading shooter that yielded multiple blasts of fluffy colored fun.

Elf on the Shelf, in the Bathroom

The elves did a number on the boys’ bathroom.  They covered the door with wrapping paper, trimmed the mirror with garland, and added metallic wreaths to the shower curtain.  But the real fun was the toilet! They left messages on the tank and lid written in dry erase marker (which was easy to remove from the porcelain and I wish I could say the same for the toilet seat lid) with a big surprise in the toilet.  They clearly got inspiration from the many elves on Pinterest for this one.

Elf on the Shelf, CATastrophe!

Every now and then someone gets too close to the elves.  We’ve had a few human mistakes made but more often than not, it’s the cat.  The elves showed up with these nifty drinking straw and paper tube rockets that the boys loved.  But then, as I was taking a few photos, Buster decided to become the center of attention.  He got close, closer, then too close and knocked poor Henry over.  In the end, Henry was about an inch away from a 15 foot drop to the first floor.

Elf on the Shelf, Minecraft Santa

We found the elves hanging from the bedroom doors with snowman door-hangers and wearing Minecraft inspired Santa faces.  They left evidence on my computer that they found the printable for this at A Little Moore.  The elves left a note saying it fit fine as is but they wanted a little more wiggle room so they enlarged it a tad before printing on heavy paper.  Later in the day we found the elves standing on their heads with the Santa heads on.

Elf on the Shelf, UNO!

Almost late for school!  UNO is a family favorite and the boys could not resist sneaking a couple of hands of UNO in before school, before breakfast even!  The elves showed up with these adorable UNO cards today.  We think they are as cute as can be, every elf needs to bring a set to their family.  These tiny cards are a challenge to shuffle but they are completely playable.

Elf on the Shelf, Poker Night!

The boys have recently learned to play poker, Texas Hold ’em is a house favorite.  We were curious to see what the elves might do with playing cards.  Amazon has miniature cards available to purchase but they are somewhat pricey.  A quick search yielded these printable dollhouse playing cards from Small Stuff’s Print Mini.  There are a lot of other miniature printables on the site that could be useful for an elf on the shelf.  I ended up saving the image and then printing them from the saved image.  I was able to adjust the size from within the printing preferences and they turned out just right.  It would have been doubly magical if the elves had appeared with their own cards from the North Pole, which was my preference, but it just didn’t work out that way here.  Once we had cards, we left them out for the elves and it turns out that they like Texas Hold ’em too.   We figure Roderick is either incredibly lucky or a cheat with his 4 aces.
